Travelling can be an exciting time and an opportunity to make lasting memories…it can also be an incredibly stressful one.

If we know this, and accept it, then maybe we can stop filling ourselves with statements like “I don’t know why I’m so anxious” or “I’m worrying over nothing” or “I know it’s silly but I can’t stop thinking about…” and “I feel guilty for…”

I am here to tell you to stop minimizing your emotions.

It’s not really a request, but rather permission; permission to allow yourself to feel ALL your emotions and worries about your upcoming trip. Because it’s different and it’s a change. And I’m here to provide some tools to help.

But why should you listen to me?

That’s a good question…my kids don’t. My dog doesn’t. My husband sometimes does-we all know why but we won’t go there this time 😉

I’m a licensed clinical therapist, a specialist certified in perinatal mental health, a maternal mental health consultant to a local hospital, and a few other things. My days consist of parenting, talking to moms or moms-to-be, and constantly learning about our brain, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Oh, I also have ADHD (this is important and will come into play later).

I have 2 kids of my own (a 3-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl), and a wonderful and supportive husband. I’ve made lots of mistakes in this game of parenting and life which has led me to lots of research, knowledge, and firsthand experience at trying new things.

In upcoming blogs, vlogs, posts, etc. we will of course be talking about travel, but also be touching on topics like self-care, managing anxiety and expectations, mindfulness tips and tricks, pregnancy and postpartum mental health, etc.

Basically, we want you to know that YOU AND YOUR NEEDS MATTER TOO.

Let that sink in for a minute.
