Ten Things That Aren’t Free at Coco Cay

Cruisers that are scheduled to visit Royal Caribbean’s private island Perfect Day at Coco Cay for the first time often worry that simply setting foot on the island comes with a charge- but in fact, I find its the exact opposite! Almost EVERYTHING on the island is completely FREE!

So what does have an additional charge?

1) Thrill Waterpark

Thrill water park includes 13 waterslides, a Wave Pool, an Adventure Pool, complimentary dining, beach chairs, and umbrellas. Ages 0-3 can access the waterpark at no additional charge and for ages 3+ tickets range from $59 to $139 but I have seen them go lower on occasion. Like many other experiences with Royal Caribbean, if you book something and the price drops, you can have it adjusted to the new price. Kids younger than 14 years old need an adult with them to enter the park.

2) Captain Jacks

Located conveniently to Skipper’s Grill and Splashaway Bay is Captain Jacks, a covered bar and grill where you can grab a drink and catch some live island music. The menu is a la carte and features steak fries ($3) and chicken wings ($7.95) served up with an assortment of signature sauces, including TLC (tequila, lime and chipotle), parmesan and peppercorn, honey mustard and sambal garlic aioli.

3) Daybed and Cabana Rentals

Beach beds (starting at $299) and Cabanas are available throughout the islands and come with a variety of amenities ranging from floating matts, snorkel gear, bluetooth speakers, and charging stations so check your beach bed/cabana to see what amenities are included.

4) Coco Beach Club

Coco Beach Club is quite the treat! Its secluded and quiet, and you will be pampered! Kids are absolutely welcome but may get bored, especially if they are aware of other areas on the island, but you know your kids best and there are many kids out there that still enjoy a quiet day without too much stimulation. If you have a kid that likes to hang close to you, or a bookworm that would love to curl up on a daybed, there is no age requirement at the Beach Club. The Beach Club offers elevated dining options and the menu is absolutely excellent! You can also try their signature cocktail, the Coco Cuvee!

5) Zip Line

The zip line ranges for $79-119 per person. The height requirement is a minimum of 48 inches with a 75 lb minimum weight and 275 maximum. Be sure to take closed toed shoes fi you plan to ride!

6) Up Up and Away Helium Balloon

Guests age 0-3 are complimentary on the Up Up and Away Helium Balloon experience. Ages 4+ are $39-$84 per person depending on your ship and sail date. The Balloon can accommodate up to 30 guests and is available for pre-booking in the Cruise Planner. Need to take a look first? Tickets can also be purchased on the island. It is important to be aware that wind can affect the availability and safety of this experience and can be closed in unsafe wind conditions.

7) Beach Equipment Rentals

Kayak, snorkel equipment, and floating matts can be rented on the island. Snorkel equipment is $35 for full set up and $25 for vest and fins. There are free lockers to leave your belongings in. Floating mats are around $12.99 for the day.

8) Excursions

Like all ports, Coco Cay offers it’s own selection of excursions including scuba, kayaking, a sting ray experience, swimming with pigs, and a Coco Cay Wave Jet Tour

9) Alcohol

If you have a drink package, or Crown and Anchor drink perks, you’ll be pleased to know that it can be used while on Royal Caribbean’s private island experiences, including Coco Cay. Drinks are available throughout the island but I recommend my two favorite spots- the pool bar at Oasis Lagoon and the swim up bar near Chill Island (sometimes moved to South Beach). If you dont have the package you can still purchase drinks using your sea pass card. Be sure to try the Coco Loco!

10) There are so many things to do for free I can’t think of a 10th! While I recognize that for many families, once kids get to a certain age, they’re going to hit you up for Thrill Waterpark- but there are so many other awesome things to do at Coco Cay that don’t cost anything! It is nice to know what you will get charged for before you go so you can plan ahead but don’t dont stress – you don’t have to do any of these activities or experiences that charge to have an absolutely Perfect Day!
